Black History Meal

On behalf of their studies of Black History, the R. H. Bearden Quest Gifted Enrichment Program families prepared a dish to celebrate different foods that have been a part of our heritage. The food was delicious.  The families put their time and hearts into preparing each dish or donating other items to make the meal a success.

The meal was a project that included a variety of outcomes from the gifted program. They included social-emotional, creativity, informational literacy, communication, and success skills. This was an opportunity for the gifted families to meet and share individual family meal preparations. The students were required to be hospitable to their guests. Principal Spicer and Mr. Young came to make sure that everyone felt welcomed.

The gathering was a success. Some of the family members have decided to come and visit the gifted classroom more often and engage in activities that the students will be doing.

We would  like to especially thank  Superintendent Ellington for allowing us to have the event at the Central Office.  Also, a special thanks to Ms Kemmery Hill and the entire Central Office staff who have shown great support towards the R.H. Bearden's Quest Gifted Enrichment Program.
